Advanced Assessment (Level 3)
A Level 3 Advanced Tree Risk Assessment represents the most detailed and specialized level of tree risk evaluation. It is usually conducted in conjunction with or following a Level 2 Basic Assessment when the arborist requires more detailed information about specific tree parts, defects, targets, or site conditions.
When is it beneficial to get an advanced assessment?
A Level 3 assessment is a logical next step after a Level 2 basic assessment identifies complex or serious issues that require a deeper investigation.
After a major storm, earthquake, fire, flood, or physical trauma, a Level 3 assessment helps identify hidden damage or structural weaknesses that could lead to future failure.
This level may include the use of advanced tools like resistance drilling, sonic tomography, or even drone (UAV) inspections to look inside the tree.
If a tree exhibits symptoms such as fungal growth (like conks or mushrooms), large cavities, or cracks in the trunk or branches, this assessment is necessary to determine the extent of the damage.
For trees suffering from severe pest infestations or disease, a detailed assessment can reveal the root cause, the extent of the infestation, and guide treatment options.
If a tree shows signs of instability, such as a significant lean or damaged roots, an advanced assessment is crucial to diagnose the underlying problem.
